ROLLING STONES -ANGRY
Mick Jagger is my twin brother in the UK as we both write songs, I sing some of those songs, we have different mothers, and that's twins! Okay, this joke is over...
CJ SLEEZ -WAGING WAR
CJ is a punk rock icon in Hamilton, Canada. She got back into it recently. Also her hubby read his wedding vows as part of my cover song Brand New Love by Sebadoh. I first heard that song on Smash Your Head On The Punk Rock. CJ Sleez approves!
DOMINIC FIKE -HOW MUCH IS WEED?
Florida man, represent! This song is beyond heartbreaking and takes place in Miami. Do you know how hard Americans work even when their families are flying apart?
KING TUFF -SYMPHONY OF A MAN
Kyle Thomas has worked with J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. 'Nuff said!
GUNS N' ROSES -PERHAPS
A little stadium rock as an interlude...
BARONESS -SHINE
I think they share management with Metallica but wow! Cool guitar sounds always and an off-mainstream metal feel.
NIA NADURATA -I THINK I LIKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND
Nia is young, Torontonian, and this track is great! Our city has beyond belief great music.
KATY PERRY -I KISSED A GIRL
When I first heard this, I thought, "Holy God!" Sounds just as incredible right now. Katy Perry may have lost against Taylor Swift but don't count her out!
EMILIE KAHN -SEARCH HISTORY
Emilie is from Montreal and I dig this track. Great lyrics, cool production.
DJ SHADOW -SIX DAYS
THE DJ SAVIOR!!!
THIS MAD DESIRE -SO WHAT OH WELL (COCAINE IN THE LIMO)
Anyone interested in Snoop Dogg, get in touch. Watch the Snoop Dogg edition video!
ALICE COOPER -BIG BOOTS
These songs are with Alice's touring band including Ryan Roxie, who also played on one of Slash's records. I covered Elected with Dan Konopka (OK Go) on drums and at the time, I met Roxie on an Indie Week conference call. He quickly ripped the opening licks to Elected and explained how cool he thought OK Go was. I told Dan and he was like, "We're not worthy!" from the Wayne's World movie. Dan et al are very worthy!
And with that, this wraps up this week’s playlist. Hope you enjoyed it!!
