Word up, homies!
D to the double G! As it's been a few weeks since we dropped a new song (NEW DAY), I thought I'd release a video for an older track called SO WHAT OH WELL (COCAINE IN THE LIMO) and feature that coolest of the cool MFs, Snoop Dogg!
In a Snoop Dogg universe where everyone is Snoop except his bitches and ho's!
About SO WHAT OH WELL (COCAINE IN THE LIMO): - wrote this song seconds after getting home from performing at the Knitting Factory in New York City. We were playing in one room and (in a much larger room) was a burlesque show created by the Suicide Girls (basically was and maybe still is an online community of hot women who have tattoos). Being a red-blooded Canadian lad, you know I was intrigued and so met a few of these ladies and organized for one of them to bring me drinks onstage at my gig and generally it's a wholesome New York love story involving cocaine, limos, and burlesque performers. (I did not partake of the cocaine but it certainly added to the wildness of the evening!) Eventually I recorded this version with MARK ZUBEK (Zedd Records, Toronto) and he had lived in NYC and when I said, “Hey Mark! I have a song about cocaine, burlesque performers, and limos.”
He said, “Let me clear my schedule. I'm in!”
Note: Snoop Dogg has nothing to do with this. This was created using what is called Generative AI and uses likenesses of the Snoop scoured from the internet. He's obviously one of the coolest people on the planet and I'm open to him contacting me to complain but I doubt that will happen. I'm such a small fish in such a large pond. That said, would I smoke a spliff with the Snoop? Of course!! (Partly I'm trying to draw attention to how insane this new tech is…)
I've released songs already with Leonard Cohen writing the words and I couldn't get permission from his estate's legal team and most recently, The Aliens Have Arrived borrows lines from Margaret Atwood's poem The Aliens Have Arrived.
Obviously this is all done with the utmost respect to all of these people, and I'm more than happy to work with anyone!
Anyway, we also have our Valentine's single TRUE LOVE ft. Dan Konopka (Founding Member and Drummer for Grammy-winning OK Go, Nashville), Jessica Magoch (award-winning singer-songwriter, Philadelphia), Da Fingaz (Disney composer, Washington, DC), and Erica Corbo (singer-songwriter, Philadelphia) coming out February 9th so stay tuned, True Believers!!
Let me know what you think and don't forget to subscribe to the youtube channel!!
