With the frightening events going on half a world away in Ukraine, we have decided to bring back our "Did The Russians Put You Up To This??" T-shirts and Tote bags and will donate a portion of the proceeds to DonateUkraine.com.
FROM THEIR WEBSITE: Ukraine: A population of 44 million. 14,000 dead in the ongoing conflict. Over 3,000 civilians were killed. Over 3 million people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance and evacuation due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Help us provide them with the means to survive.
2022 Russian Invasion: Over 130,000 Russian troops have encircled Ukraine creating the possibility of the largest humanitarian crisis since WWII. The NY Times is reporting the possibility of up to 50,000 dead and a refugee crisis in the heart of Europe.
Donations to Donate Ukraine will support humanitarian assistance in impacted communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where Ukrainian refugees have fled. Our mission is to prepare and provide housing assistance to displaced citizens during the unfolding crisis in Ukraine. We work with local NGOs and organizations in the United States to stabilize displaced families. We do not have a political agenda and do not provide lethal aid.
ABOUT THE T-SHIRT AND TOTE BAGS: While developing the iconography for our last full-length release American Dream, I decided that there should be a political slant to pretty much everything. On the cover, I'm depicted in an actual replica of the Oval Office as the first Canadian President of the United States. When I was imagining we'd be performing shows, I was going to make the merch table look like a Voter Registration Booth and I was going to have protest signs available that had slogans relating to the lyrics on the album. I wound up using them in the various videos I created when the pandemic struck.
Anyway, this one pertains to the lyrics to Antifa and the Supremacists, which has nothing to do with Ukraine whatsoever but had everything to do with Russian spies and fake news and all the insanity that was the American political circus at the time. That said, this is definitely a bit cheeky and is certainly not intended as any form of disrespect to our Russian friends. Actually, on the track is some authentic Russian being spoken by a friend who was born in Moscow, and also includes Dan Konopka (from OK Go) on drums. He also mixed the track.
Maybe a day after he tracked the drums, I was assaulted by a meth addict on the street. Anyway, it's a pretty topsy-turvy world. Stay safe out there!
LYRICS to ANTIFA AND THE SUPREMACISTS
I think it was some kind of mass hypnosis
And you find yourself face down in the gutter
With a smashed-in face only a mother
Could love and for that there’s even some doubters
You know it’s true, my sister and brothers
It’s not enough to mask your feelings
This time they’ve got you hanging from the ceiling
It takes a strong bite out of your soul
And last time you checked you weren’t safe at home
But you’re gonna get through
You’re gonna get through this
You’re gonna get through
Like this wasn’t happening to you
This internet you love, you thought it gave you a voice
Like Coke or Pepsi, illusion of choice
Every false headline lives forever
In a chaos of questions that binds us together
Was it the Russians who put you up to this?
The devil made you do it and sealed it with a kiss
The antifa walks with supremacists
Burns all the witches in street justice
And you’re gonna get through
And you’re gonna get through this
You’re gonna get through
Like this wasn’t happening to you
The Russians put you up to this
Did the Russians put you up to this?
Did the Russians put you up to this?
Admit it!
Did the Russians put you up to this?
The devil made you do it and sealed it with a kiss
The antifa walks with supremacists
Burns all the witches in street justice
The antifa walks with supremacists
Burns all the witches in street justice
And you’re gonna get through
You’re gonna get through this
You’re gonna get through
Like this wasn’t happening to you
Gonna get through
You’re gonna get through this
You’re gonna get through
Like this wasn’t happening to you
